D. Scott Williamson Jr., CAE, Named President of Quality Outcomes LLC

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – D. Scott Williamson Jr., CAE, has been named the new president of Quality Outcomes LLC, a Virginia company specializing in documenting healthcare outcomes for users of prosthetics, orthotics, and durable medical equipment. Quality Outcomes also provides assistance in attaining facility accreditation, developing and implementing workflow processes, and patient satisfaction surveys.

Williamson is responsible for Quality Outcomes’ comprehensive performance management program, a process that identifies best practices in patient care and meets the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements for accreditation.

“Quality Outcomes has been working with healthcare providers since 2006, but its market focus was creating customized manuals for practitioners to document their policies and procedures to demonstrate CMS requirements. But our emphasis now is assisting our clients with performance management,” Williamson said.

Through Quality Outcomes performance management surveys, analysis, and benchmarking, orthotic and prosthetic practitioners will have verifiable objective data to show insurance payors that practices and their patient care is making a difference. “Through our own data management, forms, and surveys, we take the paperwork burden off the practitioner, so they can spend more time where they need to – with the patients,” Williamson said.

“Our first goal is to reach out to the amputee community to participate in the survey, which will detail their satisfaction with their prosthetist and their return to daily activities. With that information, we can go back to the practitioner and document their standards and performance and provide a corrective action plan if necessary.

“Our primary focus is to benefit the profession, benefit the participants, and benefit the patients,” he said. “Our advantage is that we are an independent service, and not affiliated with any national professional association, although our goals are parallel to the goals of the profession.”

Prior to joining Quality Outcomes, Williamson was the director of facility accreditation at the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) since 2002 and has worked with professional certification programs since 1990. He has been a key liaison between the orthotic and prosthetic profession and CMS during the development of CMS' mandatory accreditation program.

Williamson received his master's of business administration degree from the University of Richmond – Robins School of Business, and an undergraduate degree in management economics from Hampden-Sydney (Va.) College. In 2005, he earned his Certified Association Executive credentials from the American Society of Association Executives.

Quality Outcomes was created to help practices meet requirements for data collection and analysis as established by the Medicare Quality Standards and required by accrediting organizations to help Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) businesses validate the quality of their products and services for Medicare and third-party payers.
